Our Sunday School starts with a time of singing in a group with all of the children in the main auditorium for around 15 minutes. We then break out into four classes for a 40-45 min lesson and activity time. In the summer, the three oldest classes have an "open Sunday School" in our basement where they usually take up a theme. For example, one year, we studied the days of Elijah and Elisha.
The classes are split into the following five groups:
Pre-school to Kindergarten
University & Young adults
Each class is taught by a teacher who has a care and concern for each of their students. If a child does not have a Bible then we will provide one for free. In fact, our entire Sunday School program is free and we do not solicit any "collection" from any child.
We encourage children to memorize verses from the Bible each week because the most important “lesson” a child can learn is what God says in His word.
There is an annual Sunday School Treat where the children recite verses in front of an audience, followed by a special speaker, supper, and of course, receiving their prizes. In the early summer, we have a Sunday School Picnic at a park. Parents, guardians and friends are encouraged to attend these functions.
Children earn points through:
Bringing their Bible
Reciting their weekly verse(s)
Bringing a friend
