Weekly Youth Gym Night in Ottawa
What Is Youth Gym Nights?
Youth Gym Nights are a free, weekly youth program designed to serve families in the Ottawa community. Each week, children come together to enjoy structured sports and gym activities, build friendships, and connect with caring leaders in a safe and welcoming environment.
Alongside games and physical activity, participants are taught from the Bible, learning who God is, who Jesus Christ is, and how the message of Scripture applies to everyday life. Through these lessons, children are encouraged to develop Christ-centred character, respect for others, and an understanding of the hope offered through the gospel.
When is it?
Youth Gym Night meets every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, running from October 16, 2025 to April 23, 2026.
Dates and times are updated annually to reflect the current Youth Gym Night schedule.
Where is it?
Youth Gym Night is held in the gymnasium of Queen Elizabeth Public School, located at 689 St. Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa, Ontario.
The school is easily accessible from surrounding neighbourhoods in East Ottawa and provides a familiar, supervised setting for our weekly gym activities.
Who is it for?
Youth Gym Night is open to children and youth ages 8 to 15. Younger children may be considered on a case-by-case basis; however, for safety reasons, they may not be able to participate in all gym activities. Parents or guardians with younger children are encouraged to contact us directly to discuss suitability.
Registration is required before attending Youth Gym Night. For the safety of all participants, each child must be registered in advance using our online registration form.
What happens during a typical session?
Each gym night is intentionally structured to balance fun, community, and learning. The evening is divided between active gym time with a variety of sports and cooperative games, a short Bible lesson (approximately 15 minutes), and time to relax together with a snack.
What is taught during the Bible time?
Over the course of the year, the Bible lessons follow a clear teaching plan. During Term 1, we will focus on the titles of Christ in the Gospel of John, emphasizing why Jesus is central to the Christian faith (John 20:31). In Term 2, we will explore pictures and foreshadows of Christ in the Old Testament, helping young people see how the whole Bible points to Him (John 17:3).
Who runs the program?
Volunteers associated with the Ottawa Gospel Hall will run the activities and lessons. Those working directly with children must undergo screening (including vulnerable sector criminal record check) and certification through the Plan to Protect program.
