This message reminds us that the gospel is not about self-improvement but about transformation — about being made well and made right through faith in Jesus Christ. One man in need of healing met the Saviour who could restore his body and forgive his sin. Another passage reveals the peace that follows when we are justified by faith. Together, they tell one story: Christ alone can heal the soul and bring lasting peace with God.
Message One — “Do You Want to Be Made Well?”
A Question That Reaches the Heart
At the pool of Bethesda, Jesus met a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years and asked a simple question: “Do you want to be made well?” The man’s reply focused on what he lacked — no one to help him, no way to reach the water first — but Jesus was offering something far greater. The question wasn’t about effort; it was about willingness to believe.
The Deeper Need
This encounter shows that beneath every physical or emotional struggle lies a deeper spiritual problem — sin. Like the paralyzed man, we are powerless to fix ourselves. The good news is that the Creator Himself has come near. When Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk,” strength returned instantly. In the same way, when we trust Christ, spiritual life begins immediately.
The Missed Recognition
At first, the healed man didn’t know who Jesus was. Later, Jesus found him again and said, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more.” Physical healing alone wasn’t enough; his greatest need was forgiveness. The same is true today — Jesus came not only to relieve suffering but to restore sinners to God through His death and resurrection.
The question remains: Do you want to be made well?
Message Two — A Roadmap to Peace
The Source of True Peace
The Bible says, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Many people long for peace in the world, but real peace begins within — when the barrier between us and God is removed. That happens only through faith in Christ, who was “delivered for our offenses and raised for our justification” (Romans 4:25).
Justified and Made Right
To be “justified” means to be declared righteous. Though our record of sin condemns us, Jesus paid the full penalty through His death. When we believe, God clears our record completely and counts us as right in His sight. It’s not by works, not by religion, but by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Peace That Lasts
The peace God gives is not uncertain or temporary. The Bible doesn’t say we might have peace — it says we have peace with God. That peace remains steady through life’s changes because it rests on what Christ has done, not on how we feel. Jesus shed His blood so that we could be forgiven and accepted. When we trust Him, we are both made well and made right — healed from sin’s power and welcomed into peace with God.
