This message centres on one powerful truth — the finished work of Christ and the gift of eternal life. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He declared that everything necessary for our salvation had been accomplished. His sacrifice was enough to satisfy God completely and open the way for us to know Him personally. Eternal life isn’t something we earn; it’s a gift we receive by looking to Christ and believing in what He has done.
Message One — It Is Finished
The Sufficiency of Christ’s Work
Hebrews 10:12 says, “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” Those words reveal the entire heart of the gospel: Christ’s sacrifice was enough. When He cried “It is finished,” every requirement for our salvation was met. Nothing can be added or improved.
Human nature always wants to “leave a mark,” to adjust or add something to God’s plan—but any attempt to do so ruins it. The moment we try to earn God’s favour by our own effort or religion, we diminish the perfect work of Christ. Salvation is not a partnership with God—it is a gift from God, designed by Him and accepted through faith.
Accepted by God, Offered to You
That Christ “sat down” shows that His work was accepted by God. The question that remains is whether it is enough for us. If God is satisfied with the cross, why should we not be? Our sins separate us from Him, but the cross removes that barrier completely. Salvation does not depend on trying harder or living better—it depends on trusting the One who already did everything necessary for us.
From Restlessness to Rest
Before we come to Christ, we struggle to find peace—trying to be “good enough” or religious enough. But peace comes when we believe God’s Word: that Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient for me. When He says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28), we can take Him at His word. Faith is simply trusting what God has said.
“It was enough for God— is it enough for you?”
Message Two — Eternal Life in Christ
The Definition of Eternal Life
The Lord Jesus said, “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life.” Eternal life is not just living forever—it is a different kind of life altogether. It is the life of God Himself, received through faith in Christ. Jesus described it in John 17:3: “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
This relationship with God begins now and continues forever. No technology or human achievement can produce it—it is a gift that comes only through the Son of God.
The Possession of Eternal Life
Eternal life is not something we earn in the future; it is something we receive the moment we believe. Whoever looks to the Son and believes in Him has everlasting life. We pass from death to life (John 5:24). Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee of that life—proof that the grave is not the end. Just as He rose, He will raise those who trust in Him at the last day.
To look to Christ is to stop looking inward for the solution and instead anchor our faith outside ourselves in the One who saves. As the old hymn says, “Behold the Lamb of God on the cross.”
The Promise of Resurrection
The Christian hope is not wishful thinking—it is rooted in the fact that Jesus Christ is alive. Those who believe in Him will never perish; He gives them eternal life (John 10:28). Our bodies may return to dust, but God will raise us in glory to live with Him forever. That’s why the invitation remains so simple and so urgent: look to the Son and live.
