John 3:16 isn’t just familiar; it’s alive. It caught Nicodemus on his first night with Jesus, and it still meets us on our own first honest night before God:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
At this moment, let’s slow down over those “25 golden words.” We’ll hear the love of God, see the gift of His Son, and face the personal promise that stands open to whosoever—including you.

Loved… in a World Like Ours
We were created to have a relationship with God. Yet because of sin, we are broken which leaves us condemned and far from Him. The Bible is honest: our greatest problem isn’t financial pressure, family stress, or tomorrow’s to-do list—it’s our sin. God’s warning isn’t to ruin our day; it’s to save our souls.
And here is the shock: “For God so loved the world.” Not a tidy, polished world, but our world—broken and ruined by sin. He loved us.

“He Gave His Only Begotten Son” — Love With a Cost
Love is more than sentiment; it sacrifices. The Father gave the Son—willingly—into the hands of sinful men and, beyond that, into the judgment our sins deserved. At the cross Jesus bore our sins “in His own body on the tree.” The work is finished; God is satisfied. How do we know? God raised Him from the dead.
This is the heart of the gospel: the sinless Christ delivered up for us, crucified, buried, and risen—able to save you now.
Not a Reset—A New Birth
We keep looking for a “reset,” but Jesus told Nicodemus we need something deeper: “You must be born again.” New life from God, not another self-improvement loop. This new birth brings us into a real relationship with the living God—life that starts now and goes on forever.

“Whosoever Believes in Him” — A Wide Door, A Simple Way
Salvation isn’t found in our record, our religion, or our rituals. It’s found in a Person—“in Him.” “Whosoever” is a wide word: it takes in the front row, the back row, and the one reading this sentence right now. Believing isn’t adding to Christ’s work; it’s receiving it.
“Should Not Perish… but Have Everlasting Life” — A Present Possession
Everlasting life isn’t only future relief; it’s present reality for those who trust Christ. Peace with God, forgiveness of sins, and a secure hope—owned now, enjoyed forever. That’s why we keep pointing people to Jesus week after week.
How to Respond Right Now
God loved. God gave. Christ died and rose. The promise is declared: whosoever believes in Him. This is for you. Right where you are, turn to God, own your sin, and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour. He will not turn you away.
We can read John 3:16 a thousand times and still be stunned. The God we offended loved us; the Son we ignored died for us; the door we feared is standing open. Don’t delay. Call on the Lord Jesus now.
