About the Program
What is Youth Gym Night?
Youth Gym Nights are a free, weekly youth program designed to serve families in the Ottawa community. Each week, children come together to enjoy structured sports and gym activities, build friendships, and connect with caring leaders in a safe and welcoming environment.
Alongside games and physical activity, participants are taught from the Bible, learning who God is, who Jesus Christ is, and how the message of Scripture applies to everyday life. Through these lessons, children are encouraged to develop Christ-centred character, respect for others, and an understanding of the hope offered through the gospel.
What to expect each week
- Structured sports and cooperative gym games
- Short Bible lesson (~15 minutes)
- Snack time and relaxed community
- Caring volunteer leaders, all screened
- Safe, supervised school gymnasium
- Completely free — no cost to families

Teaching Plan
What is taught during Bible time?
Over the course of the year, the Bible lessons follow a clear teaching plan — giving children a coherent, structured understanding of Scripture rather than isolated stories.
Term 1
The Gospel of John — Who is Jesus?
Lessons focus on the titles of Christ in the Gospel of John, emphasizing why Jesus is central to the Christian faith (John 20:31). Children explore what it means that Jesus is the Son of God, the Bread of Life, the Good Shepherd, and more.
Term 2
Christ in the Old Testament — The Whole Bible Points to Him
Lessons explore pictures and foreshadows of Christ in the Old Testament, helping young people see how the whole Bible points to Him (John 17:3). Stories, symbols, and prophecies are connected to Jesus in accessible ways.
Who Can Attend
Open to children and youth ages 8–15
Youth Gym Night is open to children and youth ages 8 to 15. Younger children may be considered on a case-by-case basis — for safety reasons, they may not be able to participate in all activities. Parents with younger children are encouraged to contact us to discuss suitability.
Registration is required before attending. For the safety of all participants, each child must be registered in advance using our online registration form.
Who runs the program?
Volunteers associated with Ottawa Gospel Hall lead all activities and lessons.
All leaders working directly with children undergo a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
Leaders are certified through the Plan to Protect program.
